The Story Behind the Collective’s Liberation
The Collective’s Liberation began with a question I kept returning to:
What is the relationship between the worlds we carry within us and the world we create together?
I have come to believe that the two cannot be separated. How we understand and relate to ourselves shapes how we love, create, build community, navigate difference, and participate in the world around us.
The Collective’s Liberation is an endeavor to create more room for us to step away from the noise around us and listen more closely to the voices, needs, and questions within us.
On Behalf of the Inner World is the first expression of that vision.
The Person Behind the Work
Hi, I’m Idris.
I’ve always been drawn to the conversations that go a little deeper, the ones where we put down the performance, wander into the questions we’ve been carrying, and leave understanding ourselves a little differently.
That curiosity has followed me throughout my life and work. My background is in education, where I was introduced to ideas like funds of knowledge, language for something I’ve long believed: that we carry wisdom shaped by our cultures, families, communities, relationships, and lived experiences. Today, I work in community advocacy and storytelling while continuing my education in social work, with the hope of eventually becoming a therapist.
Over the years, I’ve often been someone people come to when they need space to talk, reflect, or make sense of something. More recently, as I began sharing pieces of my own inner world online, people began sharing theirs with me. Some asked if there could be a space for these conversations to happen more intentionally.
This is my response to that invitation.
I don’t enter these conversations believing I have your answers. I bring curiosity, care, experience, and my own ways of knowing, and you bring yours. My hope is that somewhere in the conversation between us, we create enough space for you to hear yourself a little more clearly.
